What is a DSU-PASS device?
A Personal Alert Safety System (DSU-PASS), also known as a DSU (distress signaling unit), is a wearable safety alarm carried by all firefighters on the fireground. It sounds a loud audible alarm if the firefighter remains motionless for a set time period or manually triggers a distress signal via pushbutton, helping rescue crews and command personnel immediately begin RIT (rapid intervention team) operations.
How do telemetry DSU-PASS, Emergency Signaling and Accountability work together?
A Grace firefighter telemetry DSU-PASS, known as DSU-TPASS, not only can immediately notify incident command of a firefighter in distress, when used with Grace In-Command® PC software, it monitors the status of all active responders, including support personnel, by indicating who is actually present and accounted for on the fireground. This is accomplished through the In-Command® PC software that provides grouping of personnel along with regular PAR Checks, Evacuate and Mayday signaling.
What other features do telemetry DSU-PASS provide?
The Grace DSU-TPASS provides immediate notification of no-motion alarms, manual distress alarms, low-battery alerts, Evacuate signaling, and Abandon & Roll-Call signaling. The DSU-TPASS sounds a very loud audible alarm with visual indicators to assist nearby responders in locating the firefighter, all while maintaining active accountability of all first responders present.
Are Grace DSU-PASS devices NFPA compliant?
All of Grace's '5' line of DSU-PASS and telemetry DSU-PASS are NFPA compliant to the latest edition of the standard. Specific certifications in addition to NFPA may vary by model. Grace recommends reviewing the specification data sheet for each model or contacting our sales team for further details.
Can Grace telemetry DSU-PASS be used for wildland or large incidents?
Yes. The Grace DSU-TPASS and associated worker safety devices are available with GPS to assist in locating emergency responders across large and geographically dispersed incidents. Grace In-Command® Emergency Signaling and Automated Accountability systems can simultaneously monitor several hundred responders and easily support mutual-aid and urban-wildlands crossover incidents.
How does this fit with your existing Accountability process?
Grace Emergency Signaling and Accountability systems are designed to either replace or reinforce your accountability SOPs. A diverse selection of safety pendants are available and can integrate with passport, tag, or roster-based systems already in use.
